With Fairfax County being one of the wealthiest counties in our nation, it’s surprising to hear that there are a significant number of children who do not have enough food to eat on a regular basis. Because of record inflation and food scarcity, 1 in every 3 children in Fairfax County Public Schools suffering from food insecurity.
The race is organized with community partners to raise awareness and money to provide to local children that are on free and reduced meals within the county school system. What makes this race incredibly unique is that after the race, all participants have the opportunity to assemble weekend meal kits that will go directly into Fairfax County Schools the following Friday (May 9th) and eaten that weekend.
Over the last four years with our races we had over 2,600 people participate in the race and walk, donate 146,000 meals and raise $470,000. We know together we can do even bigger things this year!
We cannot do this without the help of sponsors in Northern Virginia.
