Fairfax County is one of the wealthiest counties in the nation—yet thousands of children here go home on weekends unsure if they’ll have enough to eat. Rising food costs and ongoing shortages have pushed more families into crisis, and today 1 in 3 students in Fairfax County Public Schools experiences food insecurity.
This race brings our community together to change that reality. Through our partnerships, we raise both awareness and critical funds to support children who depend on free and reduced-price meals during the school week. What makes this event truly special is what happens after the finish line: participants will pack weekend meal kits that go directly into Fairfax County schools on Friday, May 9—ensuring children have food on the table when they need it most.
Over the past five years, our races have brought together more than 3,800 participants, helped donate 188,000 meals, and raised over $600,000. Together, we know we can make an even bigger impact this year.
We cannot do this without the help of sponsors in Northern Virginia.
